Virginia Top Floors Repairs and Refinishes Parquet Floors
Part of our recent Vermont trip, hosted by Vermont Natural Coatings, Manufacturers of Polywhey®, was a hands-on training event focused on advanced installation techniques. The training was conducted by Bob Goldstein, a veteran flooring master with numerous credentials from the National Wood Flooring Association.
Over a few days we covered the basic elements of a perfect floor installation, finishing techniques, dyes and the intricacies of installing a Herringbone floor–a classic parquet floor configuration. The photos below show the preparation of the pattern structure and installation, as well as the manufacturer of the corner pieces, John (last name and company), and Brian Chang from K&K Chantilly Flooring. The final floor was a combination of Red and White Oak and Wenge, inlaid with a strip of bronze and corresponding floating corners.
Once the floor was completely installed, it was sanded and finished with PolyWhey® for a perfect satin look.
Virginia Top Floors has a history of successfully repairing and refinishing parquet floors in Alexandria, Arlington and Annandale.
Our thanks to K&K Chantilly Flooring –our local distributor for all Polywhey® products– for graciously inviting us to this one-week training. Our thanks also to our main host, Vermont Natural Coatings –Andrew, Greg, Leonore, and the rest of the crew– especially to Bob Goldstein for sharing his knowledge, experience, and wisdom.
Keep an eye out for more to come on other projects finished with Vermont Natural Coatings’ PolyWhey®.
